It is possible for a person to appoint a friend or relative to act as their Attorney, and in doing so to sign documents and organise personal and financial arrangements during periods of incapacity due to ill health or otherwise.

Such authorisation is generally granted by the signing of a Power of Attorney in the recipient's ("Donee's") favour.

This document can then be produced to the relevant authorities as evidence of the Donor's consent.
